LIFE CYCLES

Humanistic Jewish life ceremonies are designed specifically to meet the very human needs of those participating in the ceremony.
Trained leaders will listen carefully to what the individuals need and work with them to develop a ceremony that meets those needs, while being consistent with the values and philosophy of Humanistic Judaism. Celebrations may be conducted by an ordained celebrant.
Please contact IISHJ celebrant Martin Di Maggio martin.hjuk@gmail.com with any questions you have.
We do not encourage male circumcision performed non-consensually on infants, and we affirm that bodily integrity is a fundamental human right. There are a growing number of Jewish leaders and individuals who are questioning Brit Milah (male circumcision) and critiquing it as an outdated practice. If an adult wishes to undergo circumcision in order to affirm his Jewish identity he is free to do so by approaching an NHS medical service. There are some resources online for those questioning circumcision, and we recommend the following books: https://amzn.eu/d/3GP50CS
