Life Cycles

Humanistic Jewish life ceremonies are designed specifically to meet the very human needs of those participating in the ceremony.

Trained leaders will listen carefully to what the individuals need and work with them to develop a ceremony that meets those needs, while being consistent with the values and philosophy of Humanistic Judaism. Celebrations are conducted by an ordained celebrant.

Please contact Martin Di Maggio at humanisticjudaismuk@gmail.com with any questions you have.

There are a growing number of Jewish leaders and individuals who are questioning Brit Milah (male circumcision), and HJUK do not officiate ceremonies of Brit Milah. We do, however, officiate Zeved HaBen/HaBat baby naming ceremonies (see below).

If an adult wishes to undergo circumcision in order to affirm his Jewish identity he is free to do so by approaching an NHS medical service. There are some resources online for those questioning circumcision, and we recommend the following books: https://amzn.eu/d/3GP50CS
