WHAT WE OFFER

Shabbat and Jewish Holidays
We celebrate Shabbat and Jewish holidays through engaging services and community gatherings that focus on their cultural, moral/ethical and historical significance.
Humanistic Judaism doesn’t shy away from Jewish traditions and holidays. Instead, we reimagine them through a humanistic lens. Shabbat, for example, is a time for family, reflection, taking time out of our busy week, and appreciating the world around us. Holidays like Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur are opportunities for personal growth, renewal, reflecting on where we have let ourselves and others down, and taking responsibility for our actions. We celebrate these holidays with music, storytelling, contemplation, and readings from a variety of sources, both historical and contemporary.
Educational Programs
We offer a variety of educational programs for adults and children on topics related to Jewish history, culture, and ethics.
Humanistic Judaism places strong emphasis on core Jewish values like social justice, tikkun olam (repairing the world), and gemilut chassadim (acts of loving-kindness). These values translate into a deep commitment to social responsibility, working towards a more just and equitable world. Humanistic Jews actively engage in social activism, environmental protection, and interfaith dialogue, striving to make a positive impact on their communities.
Community
One of the most significant aspects of Humanistic Judaism is its vibrant and welcoming community. It provides a space for individuals and families who identify with Jewish heritage but may not feel comfortable in a traditional religious setting. Here, we can explore our Jewish identity, celebrate holidays together, and connect with others who share similar values and experiences.
We host social events throughout the year to provide opportunities for members to connect and build friendships.
Open to all
Humanistic Judaism is particularly welcoming to those of mixed backgrounds, interfaith and interbelief families, and individuals who are questioning their religious beliefs. It fosters a sense of belonging and acceptance, regardless of an individual’s level of Jewish knowledge or observance.
Finding your place
Whether you’re someone with a Jewish background seeking a non-theistic approach or someone curious about exploring your Jewish roots for the first time, Humanistic Judaism offers a welcoming and meaningful path. It allows you to connect with the rich tapestry of Jewish culture and values while forging your own unique identity.
Life-cycle Ceremonies
We offer humanistic ceremonies to celebrate important life passages such as weddings, baby namings, and coming-of-age milestones.
Humanistic Judaism offers meaningful ceremonies for important life passages like weddings, baby namings, and coming-of-age milestones. These ceremonies focus on the human significance of these events while drawing upon Jewish tradition, emphasising family, community, and personal growth, and connection to culture. They provide opportunities for reflection, celebration, and the creation of lasting memories.
